With this in mind there are a few fundamental questions that in my humble opinion will help sort out the true conservative from the politician that will say anything to get elected. Here we go…

1) The first year you are in office will you sponsor a bill to term limit congress to no more that one senate term and three house terms total? This means if you become a congressman you can’t become a senator and vice versa. The liberal or RINO will argue that six years isn’t long enough to learn the job so they can do “good” for the country … BS! How many executives and other professionals change positions or companies every three years? In my thirty years in the corporate world … most.

2) The first year you’re in office will you sponsor a bill to eliminate the congressional retirement benefits? Congress keeps the details pretty quiet but from what I gather it’s a deal the British Royalty might be jealous of. I worked for a large corporation for about nine years and my retirement from them is about $325 per month. Let congress get a taste of reality.

3) What’s the difference between “insert your state’s name here” pork and pork to another states? The correct answer is there is a NO difference. A true conservative will respond immediately that “pork is pork and a bridge to no where is a bridge to no where. All pork must be eliminated.”

4) Do you support Arizona’s new immigration bill? If they hesitate before they say yes they’re not a true conservative. 

Some will say ”the issues are too complicated and too many to decide based on four questions”. What a load of crap. The problem with too many Americans is that they over complicate everything and don’t think in terms of black and white issues anymore. They’ve been taught that they should view everything in different shades of gray. My mother who taught me there are absolute rights and wrongs was even falling into this trap prior to her death. If you truly believe in right and wrong the four questions posed above have simple answers. Wake up America!

Today, March 8th 2010, the Republican Minority Leader in the United States House of Representatives Congressman John Boehner is coming to Huntsville. Not to meet with local conservatives or the local Tea Party group. This TWIT is coming to Huntsville to raise money for Parker Griffith to help him become our Republican nominee for congress.

So who is Parker Griffith? Well for one he was the 5th Congressional Districts DEMOCRATIC Representative and voted for Nancy Pelosi to become the Speaker of the House. He is a “retired” doctor who some say was asked to retire due to misdealing with his patients. I’ve heard this from a primary source and a secondary source that I’ve known for years.  Finally he claims the Democratic Party is too liberal for his conservative values. Let’s rewind … He voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House! I’d say this constitutes his claim to be a conservative as a load of crap. The truth is Parker Griffith saw he had two strong conservatives challenging him this fall and knew he’d get his clock cleaned so he switched to the Republican Party. To make matters worse he has a huge DEMOCRATIC war chest of money to run commercials claiming he is a conservative Republican.

So what to do? I for one have been trying, unsuccessfully I might add, to get in contact with national talk show hosts so they can get in the fight. We need their microphones interviewing our real conservative candidates Les Phillip (http://www.lesphillip.com) and Mo Brooks (http://www.MoBrooksForCongress.com) so they can beat back Parker Griffith’s $600,000 war chest. I’ve also tried calling my Senators and various Representatives asking them to not support Parker Griffith. To this point I think they have their hands over their ears.

Well today true conservatives, ironically with the help of more than one Democratic group, are going to make our voices heard. The Huntsville Alabama Tea Party has organized a protest against Washington DC politicians interfering in our election for the 5th Congressional District. We have t-shirts printed and signs waiting for House Minority Leader John Boehner visit today. We have a simple message “DC Stay Out of this Race”.

There are a couple major flaws with this plan. Number one there are no “leaders” in the Tea Party. It’s mostly a bunch of really pissed off Americans (like me) that have had enough of the DC elites flushing our hard earned money down the toilet. Flaw two is that even if they did find dirt on one of the Tea Party “leaders” it won’t buy them anything other than fodder for the main stream media.

Let’s address the mole issue in a bit more detail and I’ll even keep it in non-DC speak so even James Carville’s can understand it. There is no big strategic plan to be uncovered. The Tea Party movement is about getting back to a government for the people. It is about a government that holds the U.S. Constitution in esteem, stopping DC’s out of control spending and returning power to the states.

The real plan was actually written over 200 years ago. Typical of a liberal to have a copy of the plan in front of them and they can’t even see it. Hey guys … Google the U.S. Constitution and read it!

When I was in my twenties and thirties I would give both democrats and republicans the same respect when I listened to them. This respect was in that I would actually listen to their entire speech.

The last 10 years (or more) have changed my attitude. Now don’t get me wrong there are some worthless republicans out there but are there any democrats that tell the truth anymore? It seems like if their mouth is moving they’re lying. Parker Griffith’s commercial was so full of crap I had to wonder if he was wearing hip boots.

Here’s the plan …

1. Allow a person to shop all 50 states for medical insurance. I typically have two choices in my state which doesn’t exactly scream competition.
2. Allow ala-carte buying of medical insurance. I don’t need mental health coverage, drug addiction coverage, quitting smoking, etc. Hey Government – Let me buy what I want and not what you think I need!
3. Tort Reform – Get the lawyers off the doctors’ backs. In 1988 when my second child was born the doctor delivering the baby was paying $35,000 per year for liability insurance and he’d never been sued! In 2004 the average for doctors in Florida was $194,000 per year! (Google obstetrician liability insurance cost)
4. Portability for pre existing conditions. This is a tough one and I am open to suggestions as to how to handle it. I had my back checked (one appointment, no surgery) and was fine (I play hockey three time per week). My exiting policy premium started to skyrocket in cost so I decided to change to another company. I’m an honest guy so I put down the visit to the doctor for my back on the application. The rejection letter was in our mail box before the ink dried.

Free market competition is key. Think of all the items that have gone up in cost the last 30 years and those that haven’t. Let’s make a list of both.

Up, Up and Away … Medical Insurance, College Tuition, Gasoline, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. – Common to all? Governemnt involvement

Same cost or less … TV’s, Appliances, Cosemetic Surgery, Furniture, etc. - Common to all? Little to no government involvement

So back to Blue Collar Patriot … My life represents what is best about America. An individual with no particualr gift or advantage taking the freedom this country offers and making something of himself. One of millions of ordinary American’s carving out a niche is this great country by applying common sense to a goal and working hard to make their personal vision a reality.
